-Essential Conditions Survey for Librarians, Technology Chairpeople, and Technology Mentors Please comment on the questions in the surveys, putting your suggested rewordings and thoughts in italics. We think these surveys will provide a snapshot of perceptions of the state of instructional technology in ICSD.
We envision launching these surveys in early March, just after the COLT newsletter goes out to the community. This will allow some time for compilation prior to submission of the technology plan. Data may also be useful during this budget cycle. Note: On 1/28 the committee decided to initially survey:

Should we define technology up front on each survey? Would this help: "technology" is too vague a term, subject to wide range of interpretation on the part of the survey responders, and perhaps we should really spell out a range of items/programs/applications that could be checked off (some that come to mind: computers, projectors, document cameras, cameras, ipods, electronic whiteboards/smartboards, and then different applications) Define educational Technology and that it is different from technology education and that we are surveying
How about an intro to each survey like:
We are asking you to take this survey so we can understand how computers and related tools are being used to support learning and teaching in all areas.
We want to know what is and is not working, and how to make it better.
